Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-10-23

This privacy policy describes how Scavland Wiki ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you visit this website.

Information We Collect

Scavland Wiki is a static website. We do not require you to create an account or submit personal information. We do not directly collect or store personal data.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services that may collect information as described in their respective privacy policies:

  • Advertising partners (e.g. Google AdSense) — may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. See the Advertising section below.
  • Analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics) — GA may collect anonymized usage data such as page views and approximate location (cookie-based, loaded only after you accept the consent banner); Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and collects aggregate page-view data.
  • Cloudflare — our hosting provider, which may process basic request data for security and performance (and serve Web Analytics when enabled, see above).
  • Comments (giscus, opt-in) — when the comment section is enabled, giscus.app loads an embedded GitHub view; viewing it exposes your IP address and browser info to that service, and signing in to comment is handled by GitHub under its own privacy policy.
  • Embedded videos (YouTube) — pages with videos load thumbnail images from i.ytimg.com and, after you press play, the YouTube player from youtube-nocookie.com. Until you interact, no YouTube cookies are set.

Advertising, cookies, and consent

We use Google AdSense to display advertising on this site. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where allowed.

Consent where required (CMP)

Where required by law — including the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland — we present a consent / privacy message (a Consent Management Platform, or CMP) before personalized advertising cookies are used. On this site, analytics and AdSense scripts load only after you accept the cookie banner (or an equivalent AdSense Privacy & messaging / Funding Choices message when enabled in the AdSense console). You can change or withdraw consent later through the same messaging interface when available.

Until you grant consent for personalized ads in those regions, we instruct Google to serve non-personalized ads where available, or not to use advertising cookies that require consent.

How Google uses information

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and/or other sites. Learn more:

Interest-based advertising (IBA) opt-out

You can opt out of personalized / interest-based advertising:

Opting out does not remove all ads; you may still see contextual or non-personalized ads.

Cookies we and partners may set

Depending on your consent choices and location, cookies or local storage may be used for:

  • remembering ad-consent choices and privacy-message state;
  • serving and frequency-capping ads;
  • measuring ad performance;
  • site preferences we already store locally (color theme; whether you answered “Was this helpful?”), which stay on your device.

You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect personalization but will not prevent you from reading our guides.

Children's Privacy

Scavland Wiki is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Personalized advertising is not intended for child users.
