Scavland Radiation and the Mist: What Is Confirmed?

Confirmed irradiated swamps in Scavland's Zalesye setting versus still-unverified radiation meters and Mist mechanics (playtest TBD).

Does Scavland have radiation?

Official store text confirms irradiated swamps, which establishes radiation as part of the setting. It does not confirm a player radiation meter, exposure buildup, damage values, thresholds, symptoms, protection, or treatment in that store copy.

Do not assume radiation behaves like another survival game. Exact mechanics will be recorded only after the live interface and repeatable exposure tests can be observed on a named Early Access build (currently discussed through 0.8.8 on this wiki).

What is the Mist?

The Steam description used for this page does not name a Mist system. Its existence, origin, movement, timing, coverage, visual warnings, and relationship to radiation therefore remain unconfirmed in store text. This wiki will not infer mechanics from artwork or genre conventions.

World context: Zalesye map overview. Enclosed locations: ruins and bunkers and procedural bunkers.

How should players approach unknown hazard zones?

Before entering, identify a safe retreat path and check whether the game exposes protection, exposure, or condition indicators. Limit the first test and record the game version, location, visible warnings, time to effect, and recovery behavior.

Healing while staging nearby can use lit campfires or sleep — see stash and campfire healing and sleep system. Check the beginner guide for general risk management.

What will be added after playtests?

Hazard indicators, exposure rates, affected map areas, protective equipment, consumables, recovery methods, and whether shelters change exposure. Each result will distinguish displayed game data from community testing.
